BUYFI SELECTS_010 (12/02/25)
Oklou's friends, Dijon's friends, an education in subgenre, and why you should maybe stop saying "EDM."
Good afternoon. This week is all about songs you may have missed, from artists you hopefully haven't missed.
First business, then, selections from Oklou, Dijon, RamonPang, and more.
A reminder, since it's been a minute since I dropped "Between the Jaws and the Open Collar": yes, premium supporters receive BUYFI SELECTS, but the main perk of upgrading is that YOU HEAR NEW MUSIC BEFORE ANYONE ELSE. 2026 is rapidly approaching, and I've got a lot in the works, including a collaboration that I still can't believe is happening- no spoilers, but I will say that it involves someone who was once in an American Boyband.
I'm committed to dropping new music monthly next year, beginning on January 14th, 2026, but premium supporters will get a sneak peek in 2 WEEKS. Upgrade today, get 2 weeks free, and know that sticking around makes this project possible. I'm so grateful for all the support you've already shown for this project, and I can't stress this enough- Buying Fireworks in Indiana wouldn't work without you (if you're reading this, yes, literally you).
ICYMI:
I wrote an essay about one of the most brilliant artists of our time and how an invisible triangle helps me stay sober. READ IT HERE.
I'm getting ready for my first gig (get tickets here - January 18th, 2026), and I've been documenting short live performances as I figure out how to do "BUYFI live" over on youtube. CHECK OUT MY LATEST VIDEO HERE.
There's a comment section at the bottom of every BUYFI SELECTS. Hit me with your most incendiary takes on BUYINGFIRE.WORKS.
BUYFI SELECTS hits every tuesday for premium subscribers.
Thanks for stepping outside your algo, thanks for being here. Anyway,

DECEMBER 02 2025 SELECTIONS
1.
In 6 days, Rachel and I will see Dijon live, here in Chicago. In anticipation of this (sure to be mind-altering and world-shattering) gig, I've been listening back through his catalogue, digging into the music that sunk it's teeth deep into my brain long before the Mk.gee / Big Mike's cataclysm, before Absolutely fully established Dijon as a force to be reckoned with, and long before Bieber.
Dijon playing "Talk Down" in San Francisco. A perfect time capsule from my time in California- Dijon's music, Ashley Gellman putting me on a guestlist, and Captain + Stoker coffee always in frame.
If you haven't already listened to Absolutely, as well as this year's Baby, then feel free to start there (immediately, please, for god's sake).
But, if you're well versed in Dijon's more recent offerings, take a gander back in time with this week's first selection- listen to "Magic Loop," the product of a 2019 collaboration with production duo DJDS.
